Account Deletion Policy
Effective Date: October 6, 2025
Last Updated: October 6, 2025
1. Introduction
At Mypursepay, we respect your right to control your data and account. This Account Deletion Policy explains how to permanently delete your Mypursepay account, what information is removed, and what information we must retain under law or financial-service regulations.
Deleting your Mypursepay account removes your access to our applications, dashboards, and digital tools. It does not automatically close or delete your Sterling Bank / Embedly wallet, which is governed separately by Sterling Bank’s and Embedly’s terms.
2. How to Request Account Deletion
You can request deletion in one of three ways:
- In-App Request: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and follow the instructions.
- Email Request: Send a verified email from your registered address to support@mypursepay.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request.”
- Written Request: Submit a signed letter to Mypursepay Ltd, Compliance Office, [insert address].
For security, we may verify your identity (e.g., via BVN, NIN, OTP, or other credentials) before processing.
3. What Happens When You Delete Your Account
3.1 Immediate Effects
- Your Mypursepay login credentials are permanently deactivated.
- Access to dashboards, analytics, personal-finance tools, and commerce modules is removed.
- API keys, tokens, and developer access (if any) are revoked.
3.2 Data Deletion
Upon successful verification:
- Personal profile data, preferences, stored contacts, and analytics linked to your user ID are deleted from Mypursepay systems.
- Logical balances (Spending / Holding) are cleared from our interface; underlying funds remain in your Embedly wallet.
- Linked integrations (e.g., storefronts, payroll records, affiliate dashboards) are disabled and archived.
3.3 Wallet Balances
Funds in your Sterling Bank wallet remain accessible through Embedly. To close the wallet entirely, you must separately contact Embedly Support at hello@embedly.ng.
Mypursepay cannot directly withdraw, move, or close your custodial wallet.
4. Data Retention After Deletion
In accordance with NDPA 2023, CBN AML/CFT Regulations, and KYC record-keeping laws, we may retain minimal records for:
- Regulatory and audit purposes (typically 5 years).
- Legal disputes or fraud investigations.
- Transaction metadata required by Sterling Bank or Embedly.
Such retained data is securely archived, access-restricted, and used only for compliance verification.
5. Deletion Timelines
- Standard requests: processed within 15 business days of verification.
- Complex cases (e.g., active disputes or regulatory holds): up to 30 business days.
You will receive email confirmation when deletion is complete.
6. Re-Activation
Once deleted, your Mypursepay account cannot be restored. You may register again using the same credentials, but prior data, schedules, or dashboards will not be recoverable.
7. Exceptions to Deletion
We may decline or delay deletion if:
- There are ongoing investigations or legal obligations.
- The account is flagged for fraud or AML/CFT review.
- Regulatory bodies require temporary retention.
